Quit DoomScroll
Privacy policy
Quit DoomScroll is an offline Android app by viaom360. It helps you understand your Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts scrolling and set optional daily and per-session budgets. This policy applies specifically to Quit DoomScroll, not to viaom360's other products.
1. Accessibility access and how it is used
With your consent, Android's Accessibility Service gives Quit DoomScroll access to interface structure and scroll events in Instagram and YouTube. The app uses structural signals, such as view identifiers, screen bounds and scroll positions, to recognize supported Reels and Shorts screens and count detected short-video transitions.
The app does not read text fields or capture screenshots. Messages, passwords, captions, comments, usernames and video content are not saved. The service's content inspection is restricted to the Instagram and YouTube packages.
When the optional floating counter or budget notice is active, the service checks the foreground app's package identity to hide it when you leave. It does not inspect content in unrelated apps. Accessibility data is processed on your device and is not uploaded to viaom360 or another server.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores scroll counts, platform names, event timestamps, estimated session durations, daily totals and your settings in Android's private app storage. It also stores the current sitting count and reset deadline when session budgeting is used.
No app account, personal profile or remote database is created. The app has no backend connection, advertising SDK, analytics service or internet permission.
3. Floating counter and optional budget fading
The optional floating pill shows today's combined count on detected Reels and Shorts screens. It uses the existing Accessibility Service, does not request the separate permission to draw over other apps, and does not intercept touches. You can turn the regular pill off under Settings → Floating counter. A session-limit notice may still appear if session budgeting is enabled.
Optional budget fading dims supported short-video screens after a daily or session limit and fully covers them when the configurable extra-video buffer is used. A completed session break clears only the session restriction, not a reached daily limit. Fading clears when you leave those screens, and Android navigation remains available. Control it under Settings → Fade at the limit.
5. Retention
- Raw detected scroll-event records are retained for 7 days.
- Session details are retained for 30 days.
- Daily totals remain until you delete your history or remove the app's local data.
- Settings and the current sitting/reset state remain locally until changed, reset or removed.
Retention cleanup runs when tracking starts and on the first count each day. Older records may remain until that cleanup runs. Session duration is an estimate based on confirmed activity.
6. Your controls and deletion
You can pause tracking, disable either supported platform, choose or skip budgets, and revoke Accessibility access in Android Settings at any time.
Use Delete history in the app's Settings to remove recorded history and current sitting state; this also pauses tracking. Clearing the app's storage through Android Settings or uninstalling removes its local app data. Because there is no account or server-side history, viaom360 cannot access, recover or remotely delete your on-device records.
Exported or shared copies are outside the app's private storage and must be deleted from their destinations separately.
7. Storage and security
The app uses Android's private app storage. Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled in this version, and the app does not upload a backup or provide cloud sync.
Local storage protection depends on the security of your device and operating system. Keep your device secure and updated. CSV exports are ordinary readable files, not encrypted copies of the app's private database.
8. Optional exports
You can explicitly export daily totals as a CSV through Android's document picker. The file goes to the location you select. That location may be managed by a cloud provider, which can receive the exported file under its own policies.
You control saved or shared files and must remove them separately. Nothing is automatically exported by Quit DoomScroll.
9. Website visits, support and third-party apps
Visiting this public policy uses your browser rather than the app's offline processing. This website may load Google Fonts. Website hosting and font providers may receive ordinary request information, such as your IP address and browser information, when you visit.
If you email support, viaom360 receives the information you choose to include and uses it to respond to your request. Do not send passwords, private messages or other sensitive screen content. Your email provider handles the message under its own policy.
Instagram and YouTube operate independently under their own privacy policies. They are trademarks of their respective owners; viaom360 is not affiliated with them. Quit DoomScroll creates no user accounts or personal profiles, including children's profiles, and does not automatically send on-device information to viaom360.
10. Counting limits and policy updates
Counts represent detected transitions, including backward swipes. Entering the first video does not add a scroll. Changes to Instagram or YouTube interfaces, very rapid swipes and unavailable structural signals can affect accuracy.
If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated with a revised date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice. This policy describes the version identified above.
